Community Grants

Applications for the 2019 grant cycle are closed

Since 2006, NECN and the Office of Civic and Community Life have partnered to provide grants to neighborhood and community organizations working to make Northeast Portland a stronger, more inclusive community. We have funded dozens of innovative projects that have collectively improved the quality of life in our area, and brought its residents closer together.

Grants given are up to $2,000 per applicant.

Deadline to apply is January 15th, 2019

See below for the application and important information on how to apply.

We offer one-on-one workshops for potential applicants to work with one of our grant coordinators to help develop project ideas and for assistance making your application stronger.

Meetings are appointment-only and take place at our office with one of our grant coordinators during regular business hours.

What we look for

Funding rounds take place annually, and are awarded based on a project's potential to:

  • Involve and benefit a diverse group of people

  • Build leadership skills, relationships and partnerships, especially with and among underrepresented groups

  • Increase community capacity to influence public decisions and shape the future of Inner North/Northeast Portland

  • Create unique projects with the potential to make an impact in communities large and small
